With many people participating in Veganuary at the beginning of the year, we thought it would be a good idea to share some of the best vegan restaurants in London. And with London being at the forefront of culture, there are more and more vegan and vegetarian restaurants popping up everyday. But if you’re stuck for where to go, here’s some to try.
Black Cat Cafe, Hackney
The Black Cat Cafe has had a bit of an iffy reputation in the past, but it consistently great nowadays. The food is well proportioned, vibrant, and they have a wonderful selection of food: from curries to dirty burgers, milkshakes, and cakes.
If you’re also wanting to cook more vegan food at home, they have a selection of ingredients you can buy there too.
You can find the Black Cat Cafe at 76 Clarence Road, Hackney, E5 8HB.
Rasa, Stoke Newington
Rasa is known for its bright, vibrant pink stores, and the branch located in Stoke Newington is purely vegan/vegetarian. They offer a great selection of South Indian/Keralan food which is packed full of spices and flavour.
You can find Rasa at 55 Stoke Newington Church Street, N16 OAR.
Cook Daily, London Fields
Cook Daily is a well sought-after vegan fast food joint within the community. They were based out of Boxpark, but following their success moved to a permanent location in London Fields. They offer a great selection of British favourites, such as pie and chips, along with a full English breakfast and Thai curries.
You can find Cook Daily at Arch 358, Westgate Street, E8 3RN.
Mildred’s, Soho
Mildred’s is probably the most well-known vegetarian restaurant in London, and they offer a great selection of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free food options. Each option is very clearly marked on the menu, but the interesting part of Mildred’s is that it offers a very international cuisine – from burgers, curries, salads, and more.
You can find Mildred’s at 45 Lexington Street, W1F 9AN.
Vanilla Black, Chancery Lane
If you’re looking for something a little more refined, Vanilla Black is well worth a visit. This vegan restaurant takes a modernist approach to plating. The Founder, Andrew Dargue, likes the idea of taking a more refined view of vegan food.
You can find Vanilla Black at 17-18 Tooks Court, EC4A 1LB.
Tibits, Regent Street
Tibits is a lovely little restaurant located right in the center of London. Fill your plate with delicious treats such as Mexican quinoa, chestnut roasts, and veggie pastas from this buffet-style restaurant. Tuesday nights are entirely vegan, but the rest of the week they ensure 80% of their menu is vegan.
You can find Tibits at 12-14 Heddon Street, W1B 4DA.
